Bio: Rampage Jackson is one of the most dangerous and heralded light heavyweights in mixed martial arts. The former UFC light heavyweight champion has made a name for himself in both the Pride Fighting Championships and the UFC with his ferocious knockout power and larger than life personality.
The 33-year-old captured the Light Heavyweight Championship by knocking out Keith Jardine at UFC 71 on May 26, 2007. Jackson then became the first fighter to unify the Pride and UFC Championships as he defeated then-Pride Middleweight Champion Dan Henderson.
Rampage has taken his mixed martial arts wisdom to TapouT VTC where helps Tiki Ghosn and Rob McCullough teach 15 MMA training courses in wrestling, striking and MMA conditioning.
While Jackson has 14 knockouts to his name, he actually came up in the wrestling ranks and wanted to pursue a professional wrestling career until he saw wrestlers succeeding in mixed martial arts. Rampage turned to King of the Cage, Gladiator Challenge and Dangerzone to kick off his MMA career.
Rampage went 11-1 in his first 12 fights and took his talets to Japan’s Pride where he made his debut against Kazushi Sakuraba at Pride 15: Raging Rumble in 2001. Jackson lost the fight but turned heads to the point where he was invited back to fight in Pride 17: Championship Chaos, where he knocked out Yuki Ishikawa.
Jackson compiled a 12-5 record over the course of his Pride career and made a name for himself along the way, although he never captured the middleweight championship as he lost his only title fight to rival Wanderlei Silva. After Pride, Rampage joined World Fighting Alliance and fought (and won) one fight before his contract was bought out by the UFC.
With over 40 professional fights under his belt, Rampage offers TapouT VTC members a wealth of experience and insight. Learn from Rampage and other top pros for the best MMA training on the web. Sign up today!
